A Memorial Meeting For Captain Slow
At SHMCC today we held a memorial meeting for Iain Miller, a club racer who recently died of lung cancer, after a battle of over a year.
He liked to be called Captain Slow, he raced a lot, but never seemed to get much better. He didn’t seem to care, he just loved the racing, the fiddling with cars, and being socialable.
I hope that’s why most of us race, just to take part, just to be part of something and because of all the friendships we form within the sport. He’ll be missed.
The racing was good, a decent turnout, and a busy day. I couldn’t get the mini on the pace all day long, and finally, in the last run I got the setup right and finally I got to within a tenth or two per lap of the leaders.
You could really tell I’m out of practice, I’ve only raced once in the last few months, just been busy with other things. But no matter, it was a good day.
More racing planned too!
