Lazy Stickers Are Here!

November 29, 2010 · Posted in News, rcLazy.com · by simon · Comment

After months of faffing about with home-made stickers, we’ve finally taken the plunge and had Craig Harris of DecTek create some sticker sheets for us.

They’re lovely clear vinyl, with a nice white border around each logo, and die cut too.  So they look great on any colour body shell.

Order some now, or see us trackside and we’ll let you have one or two for free, that’s one or two stickers, not sheets cos they aint cheap!  We also include a sticker with every order.

They are in our Shop for purchase.

Taplow Winter Series R2

November 23, 2010 · Posted in Off Road, Racing · by simon · Comment

I loved Taplow so much last time I visited, I got up at 4:30am once more last Sunday to make the trip up again.

I picked up Mark and Bob on the way, and we chuckled all the way up.  They chose a stupid route past Ascot, but we got there in decent enough time.

A full house awaited us, and the place was buzzing.  People from far and wide had come down.  The most ridiculous being the Welsh boys of Wagner, Bavid and Raffles who set off at 2:30am to get there!  Now THAT’S NOT LAZY!

The field was split into 7 heats, 5 of 2wd and 2 of 4wd.  I was running 2wd again.  And hallelujah I wasn’t in the bottom heat this time!

The cougar ran well all day, the grip was higher than last time I was there, so a few setup tweaks worked well.

They had chosen 5 rounds of FTD, and one round of finals.  All a bit weird really.  But hey ho.  I’m pleased they added the 5th round, cos I managed to improve and sneak it into the bottom of the D final.

Crazy Bob qualified 4th in the D final, and Mark, first time out with his Tamiya 201X put it in the C final, at the bottom…  So the usual sort of qualifying for us then.

At the top of 2wd Ellis was on top again, and some how he went 4 laps quicker than me.  I’ve NO idea how he did it, his car didn’t really look very rapid, just smooth, perfect lines and consistent lap after lap.  I think I need some How To Drive RC coaching…

The finals were fun, I managed to some how come 3rd in my final from the back of the grid, I had a great ol’ battle with young Rossy Williams.  Good race.  Bob binned it and came somewhere low down.

Mark also had a terrific run in his final, running in 2nd for a lot of it, finally coming in 3rd.  He’s loving the 201X.  He loves the warm Tamiya glow.

Pidge popped in sporting his fancy Lee Martin Tamiya jacket, representing the brand fresh from the Worlds in Thailand.  He was in a mischievous mood, ‘adjusting’ a few cars, claiming to be trying to improve their performance.  ”He’ll never know I touched it” was heard…

It worked though, at the top of 4wd was rcLazy team driver Wagner, and he had a great battle with Springer to take the A final with the Tamiya 511.  It was clearly the Lazy Balls that did the trick.

Ky ‘Raffles’ Smith won the raffle, so that’s two car kits he’s won in three weeks!  But I don’t mind, he keeps buying stuff!

The trip home was entertaining with Mark at the wheel, including some very sketchy roundabout action and nearly being broadsided by a mahoosive lorry…

Taplow is ace, get down there, you’ll love it.

Pics to follow when I can locate the camera.

Finally here they are!

Prep: RC Car Build Workshop

November 6, 2010 · Posted in Live, rcLazy.com, Workshops · by simon · Comment

We’re at rcLazy HQ today preparing for the RC Car Build Workshop, just 4 days away on Tuesday 9th November at 7pm.

If you want a place you MUST contact us and confirm you want a ticket, places are limited for this FREE pilot workshop.

The build is a FRONT wheel drive touring car chassis.  It’s a Tamiya FF03 (I think), chosen by Mark, as he’s our Tamiya Freak.  (Though, the Avante re-release will be irresistible…)

We believe that FWD touring cars will become a significant ‘stock’ class in on-road racing in years to come – current 4wd touring cars have become just too fast for the majority of racers to handle.

Some-time today we’ll do a test stream to see if everything’s working okay.
